3D Printer Development and Research
We are engaged in the development and research of open-source 3D printers. Our past build achievements are as follows.
VORON 2 (2.4)_350
Built June 2022
- Open Source: Official Site: Voron design
- FDM / High-speed 3D Printer
- Build Volume: 350mm(X) x 350mm(Y) x 330mm(Z)
- Type: CoreXY, fixed bed + moving gantry (Z-axis belt drive)
- Features: Minimal vibration even with large models as bed doesn’t move. Enclosed chamber. Auto-leveling capable.
- Review: Excellent in high-speed printing and precision. Easy temperature control with enclosed chamber. Good maintainability. However, assembly requires advanced skills and is relatively difficult for beginners.

Voron Trident_350
Built January 2023
- Open Source: Official Site: Voron design
- FDM / High-speed 3D Printer
- Build Volume: 350mm(X) x 350mm(Y) x 250mm(Z)
- Type: CoreXY, moving bed (Z-axis 3-point lift), fixed gantry
- Features: Bed moves up and down. Enclosed chamber. Auto-leveling capable.
- Review: Excellent in high-speed printing and precision. Easy temperature control with enclosed chamber. However, assembly requires advanced skills and is relatively difficult for beginners.

Voron 0 (0.2)
Built July 2024
- Open Source: Official Site: Voron design
- FDM / High-speed 3D Printer
- Build Volume: 120mm(X) × 120mm(Y) × 120mm(Z)
- Type: CoreXY
- Features: Small enclosed structure. Relatively few parts.
- Review: Space-saving, high-precision, high-speed, easy to transport. Optimal for those considering space and mobility. However, small build volume and overall compact size make assembly challenging, resulting in higher difficulty for beginners.

VzBoT_Vz330
Built February 2025
- Open Source: Official Site: VzBoT
- FDM / High-speed 3D Printer
- Build Volume: 330mm(X) × 330mm(Y) × 400mm(Z)
- Type: CoreXY with “All Wheel Drive (AWD)”
- Features: Designed for users seeking higher performance in CoreXY 3D printers. Incorporates CNC aluminum parts and custom-made high-performance hotend.
- Review: Ultra-high-speed oriented design, very speedy due to AWD structure and weight reduction. Limited information available, but exciting choice for DIY enthusiasts. Construction requires some experience. Manuals and information are limited, community and support accumulation is minimal.

BLV mgn Cube
Built December 2021
- Open Source: Official Site: BLV projects
- FDM / High-speed 3D Printer
- Size: Bed 300(X)×300(Y)x365(Z)
- Type: CoreXY, open front structure
- Features: High headroom, high modifiability
- Review: Robust open structure. High rigidity with linear guide rails (MGN rails). Easy to assemble and modular, making it easy to customize. Construction requires some experience.

Compatible Materials
FabLab Westharima’s 3D printers support various materials including:
- PLA: Optimal for beginners, easy to handle
- PETG: Good balance of strength and flexibility
- ABS: High-temperature compatible, high strength (enclosed chamber required)
- Nylon: Excellent strength and durability
- TPU: Flexible material
Applications
Used for FabLab printing services and as teaching materials in workshops.
We also regularly hold 3D printer assembly workshops. By assembling a printer yourself, you can also acquire maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
Open Source Contributions
We provide feedback to the open-source community with improvements and innovations from our built printers whenever possible.
