OTTO Workshop with Toyooka City

OTTO Workshop with Toyooka City
In February 2021, FabLab Westharima and Toyooka City jointly held an online workshop on “Otto assembly and programming using Otto Blockly”. About 13 children from 3rd grade to 8th grade participated and enjoyed learning. At the end, each participant decorated their Otto. Colorful OTTOs were completed. (Unfortunately, we forgot to take photos of the finished products.)
During the COVID-19 pandemic, all meetings during preparation were conducted online. With the cooperation between Toyooka City staff and FabLab Westharima, we identified concerns and implemented improvements and countermeasures. Thank you to the Toyooka City staff for their smooth cooperation.

What is Otto DIY?
Otto DIY is an open-source robot. Assembly itself does not require special tools and can be assembled in a few hours using a screwdriver. Programming is possible using a block editor, making it ideal as a learning material for programming introduction. It is full of making elements from assembly of mechanical and electronic parts to robot control through programming.
